usually it isnt worth the extra time to make your own box. You wont make it much smaller than the 10" boxes you buy at like circuit city. Most of those boxes come with 1Cu Foot of airspace.

I would actually buy one and send it out to you.....you can make a prototype.....It would be a MacGyver grill for all the people with subs.
Mine would be a free prototype of course....

I could probably modify what you currently have, but I would take a few measurements to copy the design for later

Nick -- again, i'd suggest you consider mounting the sub to the area between the spare 'bulge' and the left side of the car... there are a number of folks who have done that and have had no problems.

also -- you might consider building your own box if you're handy with woodworking. most subs will include information about an optimal internal volume required.... boxes that you get at a store won't be as sturdy as what you can make. pre-fab enclosures will have more flex and be more apt to leakage, which will cause you to sacrifice both volume and quality.

Im back - I am about to install the speaker and amp you recommended - and have now come to believe that I must install an amp to drive my four compnent speakers - I would like get an amp small enough to put in under a seat but perhaps that is dumb - anyway can you recommend a specific amp to drive these speakers - thanks -

Not sure which ones they are, but I have read where some owners have placed low-profile amps under the seat.

There are no amps that are any good that would fit under an s2k seat. I suggest this.....take off a tire, stick it in the trunk. The take a piece of wood (decent amp size) and see how much room you have to work with.

I would put my amp INSIDE the spare tire bulge. As long as it is not thick, youll be fine. I can be about 17" long though. Let me know if you need more help!
