If you use the USB/Alpine iPod connector between the iPod and the HU, you can use the HU or DCI to control the iPhone. However, you cannot use the iPhone for control while connected in this way.

If you use the aux input as described, you can use the iPhone to control the songs, but not the HU or DCI.

It's one or the other I'm afraid.

This is from the 305S manual http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/filead...DA-X305S_EN.pdf
Thanks.
Thats all I needed to know.
When i use the iphone on my stereo, I always put it on shuffle and skip to next until I find a song I want to hear.
So all i want do do is control the iphone from the DCI.

In that case, connect up using the USB port on the Alpine, and you can use the DCI to skip to the next track.

Be aware that the iPhone may well not display what's playing, so you'll need the radio door open if you want to see that information.
