The USB port for your iPod cable is in the back. If you are considering other units, check out Crutchfield or Sonicelectronix's sites for closeup photos, and check manufacturer sites for owner's manuals.

I have an X305 (I don't believe it's the S, but maybe?). It came with a short-ish USB A-male to A-female extension and the short Alpine USB to Apple Dock connector. I ran the included USB extension to the pouch in the passenger's foot well (right of head unit, left of passenger) and plug my iPod in there. Everything is lovely so long as the iPod's buttons aren't being held down by the bundle of wire

Here's where it gets wonky. I also ran an additional USB extension from that pouch through the center console to the 'glove box'. If I move the Alpine iPod connector to the end of that extension it doesn't work. If I plug a USB memory stick in at the end of the second extension it DOES work. I haven't researched further, but I think the Alpine iPod connector is either designed to require the specific configuration OR my secondary extension cable makes it too long for USB communication. I haven't done further testing as I'm fine with the iPod being in the passenger foot well.

I have been looking at this unit and a Clarion unit with iPod interface. How well can you control the iPod through the head unit? Also, has anyone connected the dash stereo controls to the unit?

I have the 305s and I gotta say, finding music is super easy. Theres lots of options for the way you can search through your
playlist. I have the stereo controler from modifry.com and it works perfect. It respons quicker then the one I had on my accord.

The only thing i dont like about the 305s is that it does not have alot of options to adjust the sound.

I am picking up this unit for my 06 (getting it next week). Everyone still happy with it? Any special instructions on the install? Also, can anyone recommend any new door speakers? I listen to Stern on Sirus vs music most days but still like to hear some tunes. I was planning on running the iphone app for Sirius as I won;t be talking and driving too much. Where do most people run the iphone cord?

I've only used the alpine cables with my iPod. I was hoping to reach the glove compartment, but it looked as though the cable came up short by way of the center concole routing. My iPod was discharging completely (after getting charged through the HU) when the car was unused during snow days, so I stopped using the iPod and started playing music from my Android phone via the KCE-400BT module. The BT audio works great... though I am having an issue with the recent Google Map turn-by-turn navigation instructions coming across muted when music is being played from winamp...
