Default Dome light not turning on?

Hey gang,

Just recently purchased an '03 GPW S2K from a dealer. Problem I have is the dome light won't come on? I tried flipping the switch back and forth with the car on/off etc, and still nothing. I even removed the plastic cover to take a look at the bulbs, and they seemed fine.

I wondered if maybe someone has run into this before, and is it something I should worry about with the car only having 29,000km's

Thx.

There's no dome light in the S2000! Maybe you mean the map lights above the windscreen. If you switched the bulbs (you switched them right, not just shook them?) and they're fine then it's probably a fuse issue.

Same problem here, They worked for a while, then stopped, then I would have to push in the button to get them to come on (not comming on when the door opened, or I turned off the key) Then they just started working again... I dont know...

Mine sometimes doesn't come on after I toggle between "never on", "always on" and "on when doors opened".

When this happens I have to jiggle it around to get it back to normal.

I would LOVE to find out what the problem is to this...

Wow, thought I was the only one. I'm willing to bet the wiper in the switch is loose. I've been meaning to crack mine open and look. They usually are just flat copper. Bending it in would fix it.

I remember reading a thread about this in the past.....If IRCC, moisture from the roof seal penetrated the fixture and causes corrosion on the switch.

May want to squirt some WD40 in the switch and move it back and forth a few times....

found it...

Great find. I had the same problems with the map lights but never got around to it. Looks like I have a little project after work. Thanx!
