also, be sure the power wire is fused or the black snake will bite.

The S has at least 3 holes that I know of. Why couldn't you use one of those like everyone else?

He never said that his friends car was an S.

However, I've never once found a car that didn't have plenty of avail space in existing grommets.

drilling a new hole is not necessary

there are many existing rubber bushing/grommet things in the firewall. just puncture a hole through one and slip the wire through

I put 4ga through an existing grommet in the S2000. I suppose if you used a wire as thick as a baseball bat, you'd have to drill a hole in the firewall, but you might have other problems with that too.

The 2 grommets at the extreme sides of the engine bay (behind battery and brake fluid) just happen to be right in the path of the rain water that runs down the windshield. It's not a problem if you only drive in the rain, but if you park in the rain and have a sloppy hole in the grommet it will leak into your car. Bigtime.

I know someone who had some engine work done and in the process the big grommet for the engine wire harness got torn. After an overnight heavy rain (I think during a near-hurricane) there was an inch of water in the driver's side of the car.

Liquid electrical tape is your friend. (and available at Home Depot).
