Default Drop In Components

Howdy guys and girls, I'm just looking to see what component speakers will just drop in to replace the factory ones with no mods. I tried the search, but it just freezes up. Tell me what you have, or what you have seen/heard, and what are the best suggestions.
Thanks

Whats REALLY important is how the speakers sound. There is no substitute for actually hearing the speakers yourself, playing your kind of music and fed by a headunit with similar power to what you will be using. Would you buy clothes based on how they fit without caring how they look? Or food based on whether your body can digest it without regard to whether you will like it? Granted that an S2000 is noisy and a difficult listening environment, but if you can't get excited about the speakers at the store they won't sound any better in your car.

If you have to take the doors apart to get your speakers in (you do), and you have to mount your crossovers somewhere (again, you do) then 'no mods' is a moot point. Most decent speakers will require you to either cut the backs out of the existing plastic speaker baskets and/or add a spacer. Either way its not really a big deal. Its not like you have to cut metal or anything and the most time you spend will be getting the doors apart and figuring out how to mount your crossovers.

You did not say whether you have a year with existing places for your tweeters. If so, you likely will have to cobble something together there too. If you are lucky you can adapt the existing tweeter mounts or something. If you don't have existing tweeters, you will need to figure out how and where you want to mount your new tweeters.

Also, remember that unless you get some sort of adapter from Crutchfield or something you are not going to just plug your new speakers/crossover into the existing socket. So you are going to have to mess around at least a little with the wiring. That said, you might as well run much better speaker wire while you are at it. The stock speaker wires are awful small, unshielded, and bundled with other stuff...

You did not say anything about the head unit. The stock headunit of any year is pretty much hopeless with aftermarket speakers and you may or may not be satisfied with even the output of a 'high power' headunit and might then have to go to a separate amp. Personally, I am happy with my Pioneer DEH-P80MP feeding Infinity Reference 6010CS components - any more and I would have hearing loss. I would like slightly more base response, but given that I only have 6 1/2" speakers its not too bad.

fwiw - it took me one full day to install my Pioneer headunit, Modifry's DCI (well worth it), new speaker wires, and the Infinity speakers. The difference in sound that it made was nothing short of amazing. I would have liked a 'perfect fit' too, but in retrospect I would cut those speaker baskets again without hesitation.

rtmpaul: I appreciate your input, and you bring up many valid points. However, I was fully aware of what I was asking. This is my fifth vehicle, and I have done full installs on all of the previous ones myself. I'm not scared of the work, and I know sq is the main goal, I just wanted to see what was available to simply swap out. From there, I was going to research those options and weigh them versus just doing the custom job like always. Again, not trying to be rude, just assuring you that I'm not just gonna rush out and put some garbage in my car just because it fits easily. And regarding the amp comment, I will definitely be adding an amp, as I have never been satisfied with running components directly from the HU, "high powered" or not.

That said, I should have mentioned that it is an '04. Also, has anyone heard any of the speakers with the smaller neodymium magnets?
