Default DVD Players

I'm about to install a DVD player in my car, and I wanted to know, anybody here use the SVCD? Is it really important to have, or a VCD DVD player is good enough?

Thanks in advance.

SVCD and VCD are formats for video CD's, not DVD's. The only time you'll really come across a VCD or SVCD are if you burn them yourself. If you have a DVD burner, then this won't be a problem as you can just burn DVD's instead.

My opinion is that it really isn't worth any extra money to find a player that claims compatability with SVCD, it's mostly a forgotten standard. (and on a 7" screen who really cares?)

Good Luck!

Yeah I should have clarified what I met by it.

Some video's that I burn with Nero, don't play too well (when the dvd player is not svcd capable)

Wondering if anybody else encountered that problem?

Thanks for your reply though sctyboy

In this case I'd highly recommend finding a cheap DVD burner and abandoning VCD's. You can fit much more, higher quality, video on a DVD player and if you've already got the hardware in the car that's the expensive part!

Check out places like www.outpost.com or www.newegg.com both are very trustworthy and usually have some pretty good deals on second tier brands.

Just a suggestion.

Oh, and one more thing, there are a LOT of settings when burning things like VCD's with Nero, you might want to play around with different file naming formats and lengths, it's possible some are incompatible with your player.
