Default EJ's Dinner Friday Night

What do you guys think about doing dinner in Alcoa Friday night? It would be a great way for all of us to meet. Let me know what your thoughts are. There are several restaurants in Alcoa. It would also be a nice drive back in the dark on the Dragon.

maybe? probably?

i'm not opposed to it, but isn't Alcoa a pretty good drive away? like an hour or so? (i could be remembering this wrong.)** i wouldn't mind the night drive back through the Foothills Pkwy and the Dragon , but i think it might make dinner a 4 hour excursion.

the Lodge resturant is pretty nice and the food there was quite good (last time i was at Fontana). not sure about seating for a crew of us tho.... i wonder if we can get reservations?

**looks like my memory is about right.

I'm not opposed to dinner at the hotel. I've just never been to Fontana so I didn't know if they could accomodate the group. Can someone call and see if they can faciliate our group?

it's a fairly nice resturant, with some pretty notably seating areas. not huge, but not small either. (here's a page w/ some views of the Mountainview Bistro - figure on about $20+ / person.)

i'll give them a call. *edit* called. they DO accept reservations. but they will need to be made by Wed. night!

how many people do we think are going to join us? and what time? (i'm thinking late-ish since quite a number of us are driving long distances... perhaps 8pm?)

I'm in for whatever, but would rather try the lodge food. But, if everyone goes to Alcoa, so do I

well, i'd guess the Lodge is at least 30 minutes from the foot of the Dragon, so Jim is thinking Alcoa was closer... like he said, i don't think he's been to the lodge. we stayed in Alcoa the last time i remember Jim went, and it wasn't too far of a drive then.

the time i was last at the Lodge (wasn't a Dragon event) the Bistro was excellent quality food and a nice (almost formal) dining atmosphere. pricing wasn't cheap, but considering the location (and the view), it wasn't absurd either.

Well, if it is almost formal, should I bring a set of khakis and a polo shirt? Otherwise I was probably just going to bring jogging pants and shorts for the whole trip... What about the group dinner? Same thing?
