Elemental Design KV2 subwoofers
Hi! Have anyone gotten these subs yet? How do they perform?
I was originally gonna get the 12a since these are proven to perform very good, but they seem to stop making these. Just want to know if the 12 kv2 would be as good as the 12a. Why did they stop making 12a? I thought it was selling very good!

I know these just became available recently and I don't know of anyone on this board who has them yet. The "K" series are Elemental Designs entry level subwoofer and will not match the performance of their previously top of the line "A" series (although I 've read they are still great subs). According to what I have read about the V.2 that are currently being release are that the Kv.2 will incorporate a lot of the technology that were in the previous mid-range "O" series, and the new Ov.2 will incorporate technology from the previous "A" series.
Right now you can pre-order the 13Ov.2 from the eD website for $165 with an expected shipping date of August 15th. These would probably be the closest match to the older 12a. They just updated their website to include left-over stock of the e15A.22 AE which can work well in small sealed enclosures (for a 15" sub). It's going for $270 and has a recommended sealed box volume of 0.8cf - 15.cf. It seems to be able to handle a large range of power and comes in only a dual 2-ohm vc configuration. Be aware that it has a 7.75" mounting depth. This sub is probably a bit overkill for the S2k and you would probably be better off waiting for the 13Ov.2 to be shipped.
On a side note, although it is not officially posted yet it seems that eD will be releasing an 8" Ov.2 sub sometime soon. On their website under the Ov.2 subs there is a power chart showing recommended power ranges for their new subs, and on that chart is a 9Ov.2 model. It's ideal power range seems to be between 200-300wrms. They have told me that more details and info will be available on this and the new 11Ov.2 in 2-3 months. Looks like those that missed out on the e8a's might have another viable option for Wlaurent's boxes soon.
