Elemental Designs e8A.44 update
Yeah... I need a grill too. I've already put a nice scratch on the woven part of the cone. Damn fencing foils!!!
I can't believe the stupidity of some people. Ben should take the destroyed e12A's and beat that guy senseless with them!

yup... gone till the 1st of July. still, when i saw those e12A's - i was like
and figured this was the best place to post it... and William always checked this thread...
so, no PM's or emails... i'm hoping he'll just respond here.
eventually.... well, soon.... alright, i'm PM'ing him NOW!

I swear, this project is going to cause me to go crazy!!!
I discussed various installation options with an installer today (highly recommended by various independent people in the industry) regarding the PG 600.4 amp. At this point in time, the only reasonable option he could come up with was to install it in the tool/tire well, taking up approximately 5" of the 6" well. OUCH! This is not what I wanted to do; instead, I wanted to install it vertically NEXT to the spare tire in the trunk.
Question for those in the know: Would the smaller sister of the PG 600.4, the PG 400.4 be adequate (not to mention acceptable) to be used with the e8A.44 sub? Its ratings are as follows:
- Into 4 ohms Stereo @ 12.5 Vdc (IASCA/USAC) . . . .20 x 4
- Into 4 ohms Stereo @ 14.4 Vdc . . . . . . . . . .50 x 4
- Into 2 ohms Stereo @ 14.4 Vdc . . . . . . . . . .100 x 4
- Into 4 ohms Bridged @ 14.4 Vdc . . . . . . . . . .200 x 2
- Minimum Bridged Load . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2 ohms
- Minimum Stereo Load . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 ohm
- Maximum Power Load . . .4 ohms bridged or 2 ohms stereo
In other words, would the e8A.44 sound good with only 200Wrms driving it @ 4ohms versus 300Wrms of the PG 600.4 (the PG 600.4 is ~50% more powerful)? If not, what other 8" subs might I look into that would sound GREAT! I like the idea of using the WLAURANT sub enclosure, as it minimizes usage of the trunk space (#1 requirement of this project, next to sound quality).
UGH!!!!
Thanks!
Mike
