oh yeah, she's a bad girl too. I'm not gonna argue...

But for Pioneer, you have to admit, the DEX P9 is not over complicted and is a fine piece as well. but let's not get out of hand here The Wyze 1 needs a reasonable system, and these HU's are beyond reason.

I've been drooling at the DEX P9 for over a year now. I've wanted that deck since it came out, it's quite a marvelous piece of equipment. It is way above my needs though. If I were to turn my car into a audio competition car, I might go there.

I'll look into the Alpine.

Any other suggestions for 5 1/4" components and where to get them? So far NFRs2000NYC has suggested Infinity Reference series and Marks2000 suggested Crystal components.

Also look into the Polk Momo coax's. Good speakers for the money. Right there with Infinity but a different sound. See which one you like better for yourself. It is YOUR car, YOUR money, YOUR decision. We can give recommendations but doesn't mean it's what you're going to like the sound of, ya know?

But I agree with the others, Alpine. The only other deck I'd say look into is the Eclipse but they start out a lil higher in $$$ if I remember correctly.

What's a good Alpine deck for ~$300? I would like it to have the V-Drive and Mp3 decoding.

for 300, the 9827 is your best best. It isnt VDRIVE though.

I'd keep the Premier speakers for the fronts, get the infinity 5000CS reference series for the rears and put your money into a better HU. You will have more real power, and you will have the option later to step up to better fronts (infinty perfects). But for now, with the given budget constraints, the premier series will be fine. Most of the premier line aren't bad speakers, and heck you've got 'em! Get decent rears, and a great powerful HU for about $450. The 9833. MP3 ready & it has 26 watts of REAL power in four channels, which doesn't sound like much, but if you're not buying a dedicated amp, you're not getting more power anywhere else for that money. It will sound TONS better, and it won't break your bank.

note: If you want to upgrade later you can: get better fronts (the infinity perfects) buy an amp and a sub, but guess what? you've already got the rears and the HU. and Viola! you've got a super great set-up!
