Default expensive install

First of all I don't know hardly anything about electronics, so I was wondering if somebody could tell me what they think.......I went to a car audio place to see how much to install my jvc kd-avx2 radio/tv/dvd anfd they looked up my car in a catalog and then they told me $250 to install. What were they looking up in the catalog, is there some kind of harness or kit that is needed? Do they need some kind of video cables? I don't know why they would charge such a high price, that's almost half what I payed for the thing. I really just want to know why they would charge such a high price. The install price sounded very high to me, what do you think?

Well, I know a wiring harness typically costs $10-15, and a good wiring kit will cost you around $100, and if they are installing and running wires, that's a lot of work, and it sounds like youdidn't buy the HU from the installers so they won't cut you a break on install, so $250 is not unheard of.

But... if you're just installing the HU, its looks like a straigt 1-din install, so I think the install is way overpriced. Also, how do you expect to watch video if the unit is buried down by the shifter?'

You should have asked the installers why the cost was so high and what work was involved, but I'd look for another installer and a lower quote, or do it yourself.

To install a headunit costs $100. I think you should shop around.

saki gt, this is the only tv that will fit in the car without cutting into the dash so that's why I got it, also it has adjustable angles/tilt to see it better, but I like it. But either way thanks for your input.

Ok, if it adjusts that makes it easier - I was imagining skulking down in the seat to watch The Office. I would seriously consider installing this yourself if its just a HU swap. Buy the Modifry CDI and wiring harness, and its really a straighforward proceedure.

Okay let me explain a little better haha.. i was in a rush at work and trying to reply and tell you in advance.. Okay on your actual tv deck itself, does it have a lip on the top, the actual faceplate on mine was bigger then one DIN even though it does fit one DIN the actual faceplate has a major lip at the top to allow the screen to be 3.5" instead of 2.5-3". If it does then you will haev to do some cutting. ALSO, when you go to screw this new deck in.. it will NOT slide all the way in because the wireharness + all the video output/input cables do not have a lot of room in the back of the radio well, this pushes the deck out a little. about a 1/3 in or so. This will not allow you to close the lid of your Radio cover. If you dont care about having the radio door open then it is no worries and does not look to much out of place. If you DO want it to close you will have to cut on of the vent in the very back of your radio well. I will try to take some pics inside the radio well area to further explain if you cant visualize it first. I have a little cleaning up to do on mine because you know where the vents are built in to the radio lid.. i ended up cutting that to fit, so i still need to do some sanding and paint it like jet black so it doesn't look too goofy.

have the legacy one with the 3.5" screen. i am posting a lot of my pics on tonight because i just got a camera. Please look at what mine looks like.. it is a little rough because i had to keep cutting.. the vents and etc have to be cut to fit that lip on the top part of the radio panel. if you need the pics directly email me at southkhaki19@aol.com for your questions.

Sorry, its DCI - it allows you to keep the dash controls with an aftermarket HU. The wiring kit you can also get is nice because it only has the needed wires for the S2000, so you don't have to sort through 25 wires, just the 7 you need.
