Factory Alarm or Aftermarket?
I've heard the factory alarm is "decent", and hardtopguy has the factory alarm for a REALLY good price. Just wanted to get feedback to see if it is worth the money to go with an aftermarket unit, and which aftermarket units work best with the S2K.
Thanks,
Jay

i went with WLaurent's offering...

the Hornet 700T which integrates straight into the OEM keyless entry. for $175 you get the alarm, shock sensors, and a field disturbance sensor.
if you're not afraid of soldering, this is a great and inexpensive route to a modest alarm. i would say this alarm far exceeds the OEM alarm.

Ok I'm like really sorry and all, but it's FRI night and I've got like four hot chics dancing at my house right now, and I 'm the dumb boy on the computer (Spring Break) so I don't have time for alarms, OK?
My apologies....

Ok, I'm back, abiet a bit hung over.
I don't like alarms. don't believe in 'em. Car alarms go off all the time and nobody cares. They really are New York crickets. i think a simple mod, to connect a small blinking LED when you put up the E-brake is enough. It won't cost anything and it will deter most thieves. Get wheel locks and seat locks and definitely lock your car, but with a convertable you are taking your chances and I just don't think any alarm is going to work as well as you think. It might make YOU feel better, but it's not going to deter a determined thief.
BTW:Friends of mine have had thier alarms stolen. Now that's irony .

I agree no one pay attention to alarms, so I went for a pager alarm that will alert ME. That way I can react to it when it goes off. There is a link in my signature about my CompuStar alarm.
