Factory Alarm -- Intermittent Problems
Is anyone else having problems with their factory alarm? Mine keeps quitting every couple of months. Last time, dealer replaced the control unit because it wouldn't hold the code when they tried to re-program. This time, it held the code, but they admitted they've had problems with another s2k and an accord with the same alarm. They say Honda is working on the fix, but have no idea what it might be.
Anyone else having similar problems or insight into this?
Thanks

does your car sit for long periods of time? (like three or four weeks?)
I had a customer of mine with the same problem, It turns out the trickle charger he was using on the car was charging at 17 volts and fried the control unit. I installed another one and i havent seen him since. I know this is a long shot but its wortha try. It took me months to figure out so i thought Id send this info along.

Thanks for the reply. My car sits often for two weeks at a time, but I've never used a trickle charger or jump-started the car. No unusual power sources coming into or going out of the car.
I really appreciate your input though. Anyone else????

Thank you for the reply! I hadn't caught that thread on my earlier searches. I don't think it's the same problem b/c the control unit in the car completely loses the codes. Problem doesn't ever fix itself and can't reset the remotes to make it work. The dealer actually has to unplug the control unit harness & sometimes even hook it to their computer to reset.
This is good information to have, so I appreciate your taking the time to reply!
Regards, Dave
