factory speaker wire size
can someone look up the helm manual and check what's the size of the door speaker wire?
i did search and someone said it's 16 awg...which is quite unbeliveable when look at the actual wire
if it's actually 16awg i would avoid running new speaker wire since it's a PITA to snake wire to the grommet....and 16 awg would be fine for 100 rms
thx.

I'm running 27 watts rms from an Alpine head to Kenwood speakers and I can't tell any difference between the stock wires and the 16 gauge wire I ran, but I am running 16 gauge wire now.
Use a two foot long cable tie as a guide. Use soapy water as a lubricant. And buy a broken watch if you want to do it in ten minutes each side..............................
And print out Dan's (MacGyver's) web page instructions. I did and it made a huge difference. I never would have gotten it done without Dan's help.
By the way, this is the first time I've strung wires through an impossibly tight small wiring harness. If you've done it before, you can probably get it done in 30 to 60 minutes a side.

It took approximately 5 - 10 minutes per door to pull through 14 guage speaker wire... What's up guys and gals?!
I just think most of you are too hesitant and careful and don't want to "hurt" your cars

I admit, the driver's door took me a good 45 minutes to get the wire through, but I started on that door and it has more wires to fill the booty/conduit. Once I learned the hard way how to wiggle the wire through, the passenger side took me about 10 minutes. So to be fair, give yourself an hour for both, but with the hints/tips I gave, both should go faster for you guys/gals.

No, seriously Shane, for some of us this is our FIRST significantly modified car.
I'll NEVER NEVER EVER have the guts to do what you did removing and replacing your dash. It kind of reminded me of those scenes in "The Return of the Jedi" with C3PO fully disassembled.
