Which filter, HU or amp?
I'm getting closer on my install, finished trunk sound damping and fabbed my first amp rack in the spare tire location (along w/crossovers and fused disty block). My amps are too big to fit the 2nd amp there!
I'm looking over the parts and documentation and I have a filter question. As near as I can tell, the Focal crossovers for K2P door mid-woofers is are plain low-pass. So that means I should set a high-pass in the JL Audio 300/2 amp and/or the Alpine CDA-9887 head unit to limit the low end. I've got a 10W3v3 subwoofer to really handle the bottom.
What is the best way to high-pass my components before the crossover? Do I set the amp filter as a safety at, say 50 Hz with a steep rate, and fine-tune with the HU near 80 Hz? Or do I leave one filter off completely?

What is powering the sub? If it's the "other end" of the same amp that's powering the doors then I'd say use just the amp x-over, that way the sub and doors should roll off/on at the same rate, providing a smooth transition.
If they are on separate amps then use the HU x-over for both.

The components have a dedicated JL Audio 300/2 amp.
The sub has its own JL Audio A1400 amp. Of course I'll have the same question there. I can use the amp's low-pass or the HU's or both! The amp has a neat choice of 12 dB or 24 dB roll-off. I haven't checked the HU specs yet.
So use HU-only filtering for both, eh? Thanks!
