Unhappy problem with HU

Hey guys,

Ive got a weird one. One day i turn on my car and try to start it and it seems my HU doesn't turn on anymore. I tried d/c the battery and reconnecting it but nothing happens. I also tried removing the fuse under and plugging it back in, but when i do that it seems the HU gets abit of life for about 5-10 seconds then it turns off, nothing turns on its just the lights on the buttons turn on and it seems like its trying to spin the CD.

Anyone got any ideas what it can be?

ive also got a JVC KD-AVX2 if it helps.

sounds like the acc. fuse not the battery back up. Remove the deck and unplug then replug it back. Make sure the faceplate is seated properly and clean the terminals behind it. if all else fails, sounds like the ribbon cable is shot(like the old flipout Kenwoods).

i got an even weirder one, i checked all fuses in engine bay and under the dash especially the acc fuse and radio back up and they are both ok! now when i turn the car on the radio doesn't turn on right away, it just flashes its red security light on and then when it feels like it, it will randomly turn on and evrything in the radio is fine, but get this - if the radio does turn on while im driving or whenever it feels like, and i try to use the power outlet plug to power a phone , ipod ,ect. the radio turns back off into its security mode with the red light flashing and my power outlet does not work either. then if i remove the plug from the power outlet the radio comes back to life instantly and works normally, trust me....i have checked the damm acc fuse like a hundred times, i even replaced it just to make sure!!! and no change, i think the radio has the problem but i dont want to buy a new HU and have the same thing happen?!?! have any of you guys ever had this happen to you or simlar?? please help!!!

Both the power outlet and radio are on the same circuit/fuse.

It sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere and the radio is not getting a full 12 volts. When it does (occasionally) and you plug something into the power outlet the additional load on the circuit causes the voltage to drop more and the radio fritzes out. (technical term).

Tracking it down can be difficult, typical problem areas will be the fuse (sorry) or the power cut relay, so named because it turns radio power off when you crank the engine. You might want to check it out.

so i should look for an open in between the socket -to- radio , radio -to- fuse, and check the radio power wire for voltage drop under 12 volts? ok cool ill see and come back with any results..
