Default Garmin Nuvi 660 Bluetooth Functionality

So I've searched and come up with nothing. I know a lot of you are running garmin nuvi's so my question is for those of you with the 360s 660s and whichever other ones have bluetooth connectivity. Does it work? Can you hear the built in speaker with the top up? top down? Do you have to use the radio transmitter to pipe it through your stereo to hear it? Can the person on the other side hear you with the top up and down? I would really like this function, but if it doesn't work well with our rather loud cars, I'll just go with the 650 and save a bit of cash. Thanks!!!

I have a 660 and a LG 8300 Verizon Phone. Love the blue tooth technology ... top up or down and the phone works well ... I bought my 660 at COSTCO.com for $499 plus S&H in early June ....... I think I got a good deal as they are $599 now ...... http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?...os=7&lang=en-US

Good luck

I have the same combo as Ken, also from the same sale. I find no fault with the combination. It's easy to transfer the call back and forth ito the handset f you need to keep the conversation on the other side private.

Amazon.com has some really good reviews for the 660. You may find some of the comments insightful.

Chiming in a little late...

The BT on the nuvi works great (i.e. pairs with phone, transfer, caller id)... but if you're trying to use it for a real conversation or work call... forget it. There seems to be some noise cancelation on the nuvi, but the engine and exhaust noise of the S2000 is too loud in cabin.

That's top up. Top down and windows down on the highway... I can barely hear the navigation directions, let alone have conversation. How loud do you need to crank the radio when top down going 70+? The FM transmitter is nice, but you'll need a big SD for MP3s... otherwise, it'll be a real quiet car ride, or you'll be switching between your FM1 and FM2.

Maybe its where I mount my 660, which is center of the windshield as close to the dash as possible. I needed to be within 10" to use the nuvi's mic. If mounted in the driver-side corneror somewhere closer to my driving position the mic could work better. Using an external mic (i.e. the folks who make "The Boom" headsets have a great) helps... but not enough, IMO.

Get the nuvi to know where you are geographically in the world, form-factor and impromptu restaurants-stores...etc. The routing is decent, but you'll probably be able to find a better route if you know the area. They screwed up the traffic feature with a recent "update"... need to get into the traffic mode to see congestion, but doesn't show position in that mode... used to show your position and traffic around you on same screen. That may be user error, but I haven't found an option for traffic data.

Don't get me wrong, love my nuvi since I'm on the road a lot. Hope you have a better experience... others seem to have had some BT success.

Sorry for the long post. Donning my flame-suit... but those are my honest experiences.

Hope they help.
