Garmin Quest vs. iQue 3600
I've never had one before, but I'm just about ready to buy a GPS. So far, I've got it somewhat narrowed down to the Garmin iQue 3600 (GPS + PDA w/Palm OS) or the new Quest. I need a portable (hand held) unit, since I'll use it in both of my cars plus for occassional hikes and exploring (on foot) unfamiliar cities. After doing some searching on the boards, I see that a few of you have the iQue 3600 and I'm wondering how you like it and how you've got it mounted in your S. Were you able to use the mounting provided by Garmin or did you rig something up yourself or buy a 3rd party mount? Anyone have the new Quest?
I know that some of you are big fans of the pocket PC systems (Dell Axiom, etc.). But, do those require a wireless subscription to utilize the GPS? I'm not too tech. savvy, so sorry if that's a stupid question. And, yes, I do believe there is such a thing.
Any feedback you can provide will be much appreciated!

The Dell Axim (or any PPC) does not require a subscription to use the GPS service.
You buy the GPS unit, typically compact flash or Bluetooth, and install the software you choose.
If there are software or map updates you pay for those depending on the software you purchased.
Here is my setup
The only difference between the iQue and a PPC is that you can pick your software. You are not stuck with Garmin's software.
Here are some other sites with information:

x30 has built in bluetooth so it communicates with a bluetooth gps device.
or you can get a sd gps card but better off leaving the sd card slot open for the maps.
or if you plan on just using it for the car you can get
seidio gps mount
they have mounts for other pda's too if you decide to go with another company
it recharges it and has a builtin speaker and gps bundle all neat that you can hardwire.
