Default Getting Polk DB6501's...

What's up everyone?

I currently have an Alpine CDE-102 headunit and it has a factory output of 18W RMS per channel.

I just got some Polk DB6501's for my car and was wondering whether you think they'll sound good with that factory 18W rms powering them? They have a high sensitivity (92db) so they should respond well to less power, but if there's anyone with experience with these speakers both and amp'd and not amp'd, it'd be cool if you could chime in with your thoughts.

Thanks a lot!

Mark

I thought a lower sensitivity responds better to low power?

Anyways, I heard these Polks sounds OK with just a headunit. You should get an amp if you want to get the full potential out of these.

Regardless of what exact aftermarket speakers or head unit your running I'd recommend an amp. Remember unless you add more speakers you only have 4 sources of sound; the 6.5 and the tweeters and they're not in the best locations. I amplified my sound system and it's awesome. I never have to worry about blowing a speaker or not being able to hear the music clearly. Then again I do have 2 rear speakers as well.

Verdict...amp is always better. If you don't like it...just return in.

Get the addon for your deck Alpine KTP-445. that will add a lil more power to your speakers without having to run cables.

I'm running an alpine ida-x305s and I did have polk dxi650 installed with no amps and they sounded amazing! Good highs and incredible bass and little to no distortion when cranking it up! I've recently installed infinity kappas and I'm not quite sure if I like them as much so I may end up going back to polk.
