Getting a sub box, but giving up spare tire?
This has nothing to do with eletronic wise, but just wanted some opinions....
I was looking into getting a sub/amp setup. In order to maximize the room in the trunk, I have to look into getting rid of the spare tire(I know, there's other place to put the sub and amp). Here's my dilemma. This car is my daily driver, and I would like to keep the spare tire just in case god forbidden that I get a flat tire sometime down the road.
This has just occurred to me as I was thinking. Let say you changed the spare tire. Where do you put your flat tire now? Will it fit in the trunk and be able to close? What about the people with the aftermarket 17's and 18's? Our trunk doesn't look spacious enough to fit a flat tire.

Only place you can fit the flat tire and rim are in the passenger seat. When I installed a sub in the tool well, I wrapped the jack and tools in a towel and put them inside the spare. That way, if the tire ever did blow and I needed to transport it, I had the towel to put down over my interior to prevent dirt / damage.
Personally, I am storing the spare this weekend, as I now need a flat vertical style amp rack that runs the entire width of the trunk.
Just get AAA.

If you look in your owner's manual, it shows that you remove the tools and tool tray from the bottom of the trunk, and you place the flat tire/rim upright in the trunk. The trunk lid will close.
Of course, that's if you didn't intall a sub in the tool well.
You know I was just thinking. I got maybe 3- 4 flat tires in my lifetime and everytimes I got the flat tire I fix it myself with the rubber tire plug that you buy at auto store for $2. I didn't even have to take off my tire to fix it. Just pump up the tire with my portible air pump, remove the nail, plug up the hole, add more air...good to go.
Matter fact now that I think of it. I am gonna remove my spare tire and carry my portable air pump, flier,and plug instead. The best thing is I just reduced my car weight by 20 lbs !! Great FREEBY mod !

What would you do if your tire split in half (or the spot where plugs don't work)? I had my new fuzion and had a flat(screw, not totally flat). I ask to pay $10 extra for the shop to do sanding fix on the tire. It's more safer...
Remember one thing...
NEVER use fix-a-flat on aftermarket rims. They will destroy your rim. (Not actually destroy, but you will never get it off.)
Also, remember, the toolwell is made for stock tires. Wider tire will NOT fit in the toolwell. I have 255s in the rear, and they arent even close to fitting into the toolwell. AAA will tow you home, when you can fix it yourself. Also, invest in a plug it, and an air compressor. Store it where the spare tire would have been.
