Default Getting Viper 5901 installed this Saturday!

After extensive research and talking with many shops and installers, I have decided to go with the Viper 5901. Extras that I am also getting installed are:
508D - Dual Zone Radar Sensor (Proximity)
509U - Ultrasonic interior sensor/glass breakage
515R - Backup battery siren
Hood & trunk pins
Trunk pop

I have decided NOT to have the remote start wired, as this would be useless for me. The reason I went with the top of line Viper was for the paging range of 1 mile.Viper/Clifford/Python are all made by DEI and have the exact same features.

I was seriously considering CompuStar, as many seem to like this system but after talking with my installer, my mind was made up to go with Viper/DEI. I was very impressed with the previous work done by this installer and shop and he came very highly reccomended. If you are in the WA state area, PM me and I will give you the shops info.

Make sure they hide the hell outta the brain, that up under the dash shit is too easily defeatable to a pro. You also want a digital tilt sensor incase they attempt flat bed.

the remote start is wack for the new 5000 series for manuals... you have to start it normal first and do some stupid procedures then you can remote start it after you do that.

i just did one on a stupid camero and it sucked the procedures are long and not worth it. however the alarm itself its great without the R/S. you would have to get a module to do the bypass if you wanted the r/s to work as well.

i went with same alarm.

viper 5901
prox sensor
digital tilt sensor
battery backup unit
2 battery backup sirens<one inside the car, one outside>
1 peizo siren <inside the car>

and i have the window module for later install.

basically, if you get near the car, prox sensor will set off alarm and god help you if your inside the car and the alarm goes off.

how about if you were to park by the sidewalk where everyone is walking by?

or in a car park where cars can park to the left and right of you..

how does it work then?

do you get notified on the pager when the proximity alarm is tripped?

You can adjust the sensitivity, I have mine and it will silent alert me if you get close, and wont go all out unless you actually enter the car, but at that point im gonna be on your back loaded.

You can add a switch to the prox sensor to shut it off when in a busy area.

The remote start is great, it is a simple process to set that you would do anyway when you get out of the car. Foot on brake, Ebrake up, push remote start button, I had an extra valet switch added for this under the dash to act as the start button. Get out car hit lock and your ready to go. I use it as a turbo timer to.

When I had my first S2k, I had all the items listed as the OP. I really did hate the proximity sensor because there was so much false alarms because of a hanging pass I had on the visor. The heat in AZ causes the pass to move and the alarm would go off.

I changed the sensitivity and it was better off not having one basically....

Just my 2 cents.

Also I love having the piezo siren in the car it was great....

When i installed camuman's alarm i used a relay to make the Start button the activation input for the remstart. This entering the remote start seq very easy when you shut down the car.
