Default A good 8 inch sub

I have 2 wlaurent 8in sub enclosures, but I am thinking about just using one. I had 2 rockford fosgate subs in there, but they were blown by my amp (100x4 for my components and 300x1 for the sub)...

the specs on the subs were 250 watt RMS, so when tried running both with my amp, they didnt kick hard enough, but when I put just one... it blew... and I tried messing with the other one and reducing the boost on the amp.... but i blew that one too... hahah... yeayea im stupid

anyways... I want to find a good 8in that will kick off of my amp. Suggestions?

To clarify:

8in sub, preferably around 300 watts RMS.
Good clean base you can feel and hear (i know this is hard with an 8in).
Price is not too big an issue.

What does Laurent's enclosure require? How deep can a sub be and what is the internal box volume? I have a list of 8 inch subs but likely only some of them will work in Laurent's box.

The Elemental Designs e8A is ideal for what you want, but they quit making them earlier this year. Check with ED - they sometimes offer refurbished ones for sale, and you see one occasionally on eBay. Others have tried the Alphasonic 8" and seem to be happy with it.

Thanks for the help!

I am actually considering selling both my 8" boxes, and just getting a 10 inch. Do you think its worth it?

The real beauty of the WLaurent enclosures is their space utilization in the trunk. (I'm running a single with an e8A. It's more than enough low-end for me and I really appreciate the space savings.) The question for you is whether you'll miss the center well in the trunk if you go with a larger sub, since that's the only place to fit an enclosure. If you can live without the well, you've got a lot more sub options in a 10" or 12" size.

Looks like i need to somehow get my hands on a e8A. I emailed ED earlier today... so I have my fingers crossed. Ideally, I would like to keep as much trunk space as possible, but using the well for a 10" or 12" box is not completely out of the picture.

How much power are u running to the e8A?

I'm running a JL Audio 250/1. The e8A is power hungry and should easily handle your amp's output, if you can find one. Good luck.

If I can't, is there another option I can take?

The WLaurent enclosure poses some depth limitations, but I know some have gone with the Alphasonic. Send a pm to "Icemn2003" and see what he says. (He's sending 300 watts to an 8" Alphasonic in a WLaurent enclosure.) You may also want to pm William (Laurent) and find out what subs he's been installing in his enclosures lately.
