I bought a "Boss" brand version of the same idea, actually they may be the same product because the connection/control layouts are the same, right down to the two 15A fuses (but one is a spare). I got it on a good sale ($50?) and tested it out in the basement, only in that environment (30x16x10 room) it did not sound very good so it went back in the box and I stuck it in a corner for 3 or 4 years.

Then recently I was going on an 8-hour trip and needed tunes in the car because I temporarily have gauges in place of the radio and no speakers in the doors. So I threw in a little portable player and this sub. I was surprised how well it sounded in the car compared to the house, it was actually not bad. Obviously cabin gain has a lot to do with that and I'm thinking the manufacturer probably optimized it for small cars. It definitely won't wake the neighbors, but had no trouble filling in bass that is missing with the stock door speakers. It was good enough I plan to put it back in the car when I get the full stereo re-installed, though at some point in the future I'll probably replace it with something better.

Yeah, that's my internal debate right now. Whether just to get one of these are go full out and get a "proper" sub. Though by all accounts, it seems like it's definitely good enough to fill the cabin with enough bass to round out the rest of your speakers.

ebayhas what appears to be the same one I have for $89. They have sold recently for between $72 and $119 shipped, but I don't know if that includes up yonder where you are.

Knowing that a "real" sub, amp, & box will start at $400-$500, and assuming if you don't like the under-seat sub that you could sell it for half what you paid, is it worth $50 or $60 to give it a try?

Hmmm, at this price, it's definitely worth trying out, in which case, I might just go for a set of comps (probably the Focals p165v15s) first with this in the cabin. Seems like the most economical and space efficient means.

Do you know if that will fit under the passenger's seat? My girlfriend is 6'2" and I'm about the same, so behind either seat isn't really an option (and my driver's seat is lowered as well, so it won't fit under that either).

EDIT: Amazon also has the "800" Watt one (I'm guessing 2-300 watts RMS) on amazon prime for only $90 shipped and it's not refurbished, so I would probably go with that over the eBay one.

Nope it won't fit under the passenger seat due to the exhaust hump, only the driver's seat which won't work in your case. (according to this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/921...#entry21395554)

Unfortunately for those of us north of the border, notwithstanding the refurbished one from eBay, they're priced at $200-300 including shipping. At those prices, it's harder to purchase it on a whim and hope it works (and lasts). It may be less of a hassle to just get a "proper" sub.

Although, I could always try to ship it a friend in the US and then pick it up when I visit.
