well it depends on what he will be using it for.. It will certainly look great when watching HDTV, but could fall short if you have 1080p content from a PS3, xbox, BluRay, or if hooking it up to a PC..

damn, I wish I could see it in person. It's online only. Two year warranty is good enough for me. I don't want to return it unless something is wrong with it anyways.

Find someone with a costco membership.. While you're there you can check out the Vizio VU42LF and Philips 42PFL7422.

I have a costco membership, but that TV is online only.
