Happy Holiday's EJ's
thanks guys for the feedback... i got the split screen so that i can satisfy the kid's needs on one half and XBox on the other...
the fact it was a great deal helped a lot... it comes w/ headphones and can output to separate audio channels as needed (and supports up to 4 inputs) so, using headphones, i can support up to 3 different zones simultaneously. how useful will that prove to be? i dunno.
am i going to hardwire?
DEFINITELY planning to hardwire the DVD into the HU and to the screen. the DVD is actually a DIN unit and will be mounting right below the Ody's current CD player (in a coin slot where the OEM DVD resides). of course, the head unit is a basic Alpine, so i'll only have multi-zone options between headphones and main speakers, but that should cover most of my needs, especially since the Boston and Alphasonik have very detailed onboard crossovers. and the HU is more than what the wife needs...
sent in my knukonceptz order tonight... so, hopefully it will come soon... i'd have ordered sooner, but i've been trying to get the Saturn sold (little 72 yr old lady is buying it...
).
anyone have any experience on downward firing subs? i'm thinking that may be the best way to protect it from stroller damage...

congrats on the hottub mike... i'm guessing you'll be having more fun w/ it than i will be with the Ody...
well, it looks like Alphasonik was bought a few years ago by one of the Anaba brothers... and considering they have the exact same phone numbers and address for customer service, etc... i'm thinking they're owned now...
still, i'm definitely in agreement that they are the high end of the company. still, as i did some research i was flat out astounded at how many companies the Anaba brothers actually own...
in fact, if you look at the power ratings of the Audiobahn lineups and the Alphasonik lineups -- they are rated slightly differently (one full range, the other at a less broad output range), which could easily account for the variance in powers between the (otherwise) very similiar lines. also, the various filters, boosts, crossover points, etc. are almost the same.
truly interesting imo, and i wasn't intending to slam either...

As far as I know...(which may not be very far at all).....Alphasonik isnt owned by Audiobahn or the other way around. Alphasonik is much older than Audiobahn, and their policies are different. However, I dont know what happened in the last couple of years. If they do indeed own each other, I think audiobahn would be the Honda, and ALphasonik would be an Acura. Same parts, just better service and etc. Ill call them up and see what they say.
