Default Hard wiring a Valentine One in a 2007 ap2

Yesterday I hard wired my new Valentine One Radar Detector using this DIY.

http://www.s2000.org/mods/radar/

It was written in 2001 and worked great except for one step. (choosing which spot on the fuse box to use)

This is the location the DIY says to use, it points out that the bottom of the three is ignition power, and the two above are constant and one is 12v switch. When I plugged into the bottom on my 2007, it was 12v switch. The middle was constant, and I got no power out of the top. Has anyone else tried to hardwire to this location in a DBW car? I assume that DBW, VSA and etc are the reasons for the disimilarities in the fuse box. I left it connected to the 12v switch for now, but would really like to hook it to an ignition power source without cutting into any wires.

12V Switched (Accessory) and Ignition are pretty much the same when it comes to the output. The only difference is the ignition doesn't lose power for that split second when you're cranking the car, while the Accessory will. If you want it to have power only when the car is on, hook it, to 12V switched, and if you want it on all the time, hook it to 12V constant.

That's what I did. I hooked it to the 12v switched, but I want it to be ignition on only. With 12v switched, the V1 starts beeping when I turn the key, looses power when you igntion on, and then beeps again. It's a minor annoyance, but I'm a picky person. I will however be using the 12v switched power on the fuse box for my gauges.

Yup. I used the same guide for my 06 and it matched the guide.

The only way I'm aware of getting Ignition as a power source, is to tap off one of the 2 ignition wires on main harness. Here's a link from the12volt.com that might help The12volt.com - Viper 791 alarm, 06 s2000. I'd highly recommend you testing it with a Digital Multi Meter to ensure it is the correct wire.

Hmm... Do you remember which one of the 3 in the picture you hooked to? Mine is conected to the bottom, which the DIY said should be the ignition.

The three accessory connectors in the underdash fuse box are:
  • on with the headlights
  • on all the time
  • on with the ignition

(from the UK technical FAQ)

So ignition power works when your turn the keys? I thought it only worked after the ignition was pressed.

Powered anytime the key is in and turned to the accessory or run positions.
Perfect for this application!

just like turning the key to acessory, radio comes on as should the "cigarette lighter". My v-1 is wired to come on with the key.
