Default Hardwire Nuvi

I did a search and couldnt find any DIY threads on how to hardwire a Nuvi GPS unit. I want to use an add-a-fuse unit but i dont know which specific wires to tap. Any ideas?

Have you ordered the Modifry 3" bracket and Nuvi ball yet? You're gonna have to start there first. I have this setup, and can give you some guidance, but you're gonna need the Modifry 3" bracket.

yes, i already have the modifry mount and nuvi ball on my car. I am currently using the cigarette lighter outlet to power my nuvi but would like to hardwire it instead so that I have access to the outlet for other goodies.

I went to Modifry's web site and saw the 3" bracket. I assume thats the one that fits between the radio door. What about the Nuvi ball, where can i find it.

The Nuvi Ball is on Modifry's site as well, as a mount accessory.

Just an FYI, They are in stock, but Modifry is out of town until April 1st/2nd, so any orders made will not be shipped until the 2nd.

I am currently deciding between the JVC HU with nav and leaving my current setup alone and just installing a Nuvi for nav..

I have to take some pictures of my XM setup for another member...I'll try to take some for you of my Nuvi setup while I'm doing his.

A couple things you're gonna need in addition to the modifry mount:

1.) This car power accessory outlet from Radio Shack: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=family

2.) Some very small black cable ties. These cable ties will be used to keep the cable out of the way once you wire the power adapter down below the driver foot well. I will show you how I used them when I post pics.

Not sure why you'd deal with mounting another 12V outlet when you can just hard wire it to the spots honda left avail for us.

There's a problem that arises here:

If you have more than one device, like I do (radar detector, Nuvi, and a portable XM device), the one port in the driver's side fuse box that goes hot on the "Accessory" setting of the ignition is not enough. I had to make my own little Y adapter to connect two devices to that one ACC connection.
