having some double post problems?

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=368399

you don't want the fuse that splices into 2 fuses. you want an inline fuse. you can buy it just about anywhere (Walmart, da'Shack, Circuit City, Best Buy, Pepboys, Autozone, etc.) -- and you want to put it inline w/ your positive lead. as i recall, the V1 uses a 10 amp, and i know the Escort 8500 uses a 10 amp.

use this type of fuse holder: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=search
with a 10 amp fuse: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=search
give da'Shack guy those catalog numbers and they can pull them out of the parts drawers for you.

and you should be just fine.

i've seen them for sale in at CC's in the past (generally in the Roadshop), and thought i remembered seeing one at BB, possibly not. still -- they should be available at most places that support diy activities for either electronics or cars.

you know just recently I feel like I have been able to predict future events - my psychic powers are in overdrive today as i feel shortly there will be a "my power mirrors dont work" post

j/k honestly ive never heard of anyone splicing into their mirror circuit but if it works more power (no pun intended) to ya!

fwiw i get my inline fuse holders from walmart or meijers in my local area.

"littelfuse" makes something called an "add a circuit" - a minifuse in line fuse holder that turns one of the fuse sockets in your car into 2 (the orginal and an extra for the radar detector) . http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...FTOKEN=88947921 its about $9 on this web site but I know KMart and Pep Boys sells them for around $8. A bit higher than the $.99 inline holder but easy to install and looks professional.

It doesn't get any easier than crimping on one of these:

And plugging it into the empty receptacle on the fuse panel that was put there for this purpose.

This way, you don't have to tap into a circuit that's already supplying power to something else nor do you have to fiddle with an existing fuse.
