Default Has anyone drilled for amp ground?

Hey everyone,

I've read about the usual places for grounding an amp. Has anyone drilled / punched a hole for grounding their amps?

Is there a convenient place for drilling / punching a hole? Don't want to jack the car - only have the stock jack.

OCD has kicked in full bore.

thx and enjoy the week,

Well, it depends on where your amp is installed...

I have installed two systems and used the same ground point for all the amps. I used the rear strut tower bar, great ground!

No. It's not a "great" ground. It's decent.

A "great" ground would involve what the OP is describing.

It's in the trunk. Not a smart answer - it hasn't been installed perm yet. I can move it as I'm in the fabrication stage. I've removed the spare tire, etc and plan to put it there.

The reason for this question is I like the streetwires ground post. I've read numerous posts where you (and others) state the strut bar is a good place but may get noise. I want to do this right and don't want noise. I'm looking for a place that is easy to get to and has a short ground wire run.

This may not be necessary but would rather have the info prior. Thanks all,
Just make sure of two things:

1- there is nothing vital underneath where you're looking to drill/punch

2- the sheet you plan to attach the ground to is a main part of the body/chassis, not one that's bolted to the rest of the chassis (like the rear crossbeam).

Thx again for the responses. This was my question - don't really have a good way to look under the car. Wanted to know if anyone had found an ideal place to drill / punch.

Looks like I need to stick a seat in the car and find a body shop. It will probably cost me like $500 for 3 drilled holes.

Check where aftermarket roll bars are bolted by the rear suspension.

Unbolt the ABS sensor in the wheel well and drill in that area. Or just drill rear of the rear suspension mounting point.
