Default Head unit fit list -- radio door closes?

Does your after-market head unit fit without dash modification, allowing the radio door to fully close?

If so, please contribute the make and model # of your head unit here...

This would be a helpful resource for anyone looking to change head units, as most shops can't guarantee the door will close prior to attempting an install.

I use an Alpine CDE-143BT, it fits fine, but it's a couple of years old already and there are probably newer stuff out there.

You can go to Crutchfields and enter your car in the search box. It will show only the models that fit the S. I used it for mine, a Sony. Works great.
BTW, when you do get a HU, use Modfrys DCI and wiring harness to make it so easy and foolproof.

Thank you for the recommendations! Crutchfield sometimes reports that a model "fits", but then adds the curious footnote "You may not be able to close the factory radio cover after you install a stereo with a fold-down or protruding faceplate."

I have an Alpine CDE-164BT fits perfect in original radio cage. Got Modifry's harness and interface (DCI) all plug and play and can use dash controls.

I have a Pioneer DEH-S6010BS that fits just fine, also have a micro 64 GB USB thumb drive that will also let the door shut when it's plugin. I went with the Metra steering wheel controls since it was only an additional $21.94 from Crutchfield.

I bought this unit from Crutchfield - Kenwood Excelon KDC-X302. Added the Modifry Radio Bracket Combo to hold my phone. With the front USB port it only takes a small cord to charge the phone from the stereo. Obviously you can’t close the radio door while charging but you can with the stereo in.

I've gone through a few Kenwood head units over the years (KDC-X889, KDC-X991, KDC-BT555U, KIV-701, XXV-01D) that had no problems with the radio door, and I'd assume they fit unless there's a glaring reason that they wouldn't. Obviously with something plugged into a front USB port things are different.

Alpine CDE-172BT fits and allows radio door to fully close, but may depress volume button. Full clearance *may* be possible if head unit can be screwed in flush without obstruction from unwieldy wire harnesses.
