Default Head Unit for MY02

Can anyone recommend a decent head unit that matches the stock dash lighting fairly well? I have seen some Alpine units online that light up in just amber and are not switchable, which would be great, but they don't seem to be sold in the US. The only stores that seem to carry them are British or Russian for some reason. I am not after all the latest features, I am just trying to add slightly better sound while keeping the stock look. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've got an alpine 9833, and I can swith the lights from Amber to Green, and the buttons I can switch between about 300 colors, To match the dash I can select amber buttons along the bottom and then color match that to the rest of the display.

i recently acquired an Alpine 9833 with all amber lighting for buttons. it replaced an Alpine 7894 which also had all amber button lighting. both have bluish screens.

the current Alpine 9855 has a black and white lit screen with all amber lighting as well.

there are a number of options out there. the upper Alpines generally have selectible colors that match pretty well.

self serving plug:

if you'd have been a tad bit earlier i could have offered you first shot on my older 7894. i'm currently trying to sell it locally. i don't have money in hand yet, but a local guy has 'dibs' on it. if he doesn't come through, would you be interested?

our local group is pretty tight, so regretfully the price will go up a bit for a stranger, but not unreasonably so. say $150 + S&H? there are several people here who can vouch for me.

Hello all,

I have decided to stick with the factory head unit for a little bit. Thanks for your help. I am happy to know that there are some Alpines that match well for the future. It is hard to tell because all of the sites show them lit up in green or blue. Also in case anyone is curious, here is the one that I wish I could find in the US:

Does the "SwingFace" (I'm assuming that means the face plate will swing when you insert/eject the CD) interfere with the stereo cover on the S? Such as ... did you have to make modifications to make the swing face work okay?

Also, does the "OEM Steering Remote Ready" of the Alpine unit let you work with you 9855 unit?

Maybe I'm asking too much .. but if you have pics ... can you post them as well?

Thanks!

Also, does the "OEM Steering Remote Ready" of the 9855 Alpine unit work with the volume control on the driver's side's dash?

looks like the CDA-9845 has Quad Illumination and does Amber.

problem solved for about $30 more.

swing face is no problem.

OEM Steering Remote adapter works w/ the S2000, but is still coming to market right now.
