Default Head Unit Reviews

Does anybody know of a good web site for HU reviews? I'm trying to decide between the Pioneer P6400, Alpine 7892, Rockford Fosgate 9300, and Sony M610 but I can't find any store where I can listen to all 4 side by side. Any other recommendations in the <$300 range?

I just bought the 7892 and it rocks. I've always liked Alpine. I also picked up the SWI-X which allows the use of dash controls to Alpine deck.

I just put in the CDA-7893 and it rocks! I had a moment of weakness before and put in the Sony MP3/CD player(don't remeber the #) and really felt like my whole system didn't sound like as much as it cost me.

When i put in the CDA-7893, everything came to life. I'm running with no subs but the clear, clean bass that it provides out of my boston pro 6.5's is phenomanally different than that Sony POS!!

i just installed the 7893 along with some infinity 605c speakers. i installed the lucid 5.25 kenwood rear speaker a couple of weeks ago. i am extremely happy with the whole system. very good bass even without a sub (which i will probably add eventually anyway). i have the swi-x switch on order so i can use the console controls.

jss2k - 2 things:
I've got the swi-x in mine. Works like a charm. I particularly like that the Alpine in conjunction with the SWI-X pauses cd play instead of muting it.

Did you install the lucid panels yourself? I'm insterested in getting them only if i can sink some tiny mid subs like 5" in them. Think there's room back there?

Will it work with the 7894?
Where did you get it???
And, how much was it???

Thanks!!
MajorHavoc,
The 7894 has the same manual as the 7893 and the only difference i'm aware of is the MP3 capability. The SWI-X should work fine with it. I got mine from the Good Guys and met a guy there that really knew his stuff, so i let him install it and he did a perfect job. I don't recall how much it cost me.

i'm getting charged $60 for the switch. the 94 only differs from the 93 by having mp3 and the ability to change the color of the display lights.

the lucid panels took 1 hour to install and were very simple. all you need is a flat head and phillips head screwdriver and some electrical and masking tape. i went with the 5.25 kenwood speakers and love the sound.

Lucid, can you give me some speaker depth/basket diameter limitations for your rear mounts? I'd like to figure out if i can through some small subs in..5" or 6"..
