Default Heads Up Displays/Infrared Systems

Just wondering if anyone has explored the options of retrofitting a heads up display/infrared system into their S. GM and BMW have had both hud systems and infrared vision systems available for several years. I don't think BMW combines their hud with their infrared system but I know GM did at one point in their some cadillacs. I always wanted to pillage a system from a junk-yard but definitely don't have the know how yet. Any of you electronic gurus tackled this?

The first problem that strikes me is that to get a hud system working as in the GM or BMW vehicles, which project the information directly onto the windshield, it would seem to require replacing the windshield with one that incorporates a reflective film (DuPont is involved with the GM huds for this) or covering the windshield with a reflective film. Also, I'm not sure if the brains of the systems are self-contained such that they could be retrofitted or if they just draw the information off of other systems within the vehicles. Anyway, I am obviously no expert so please forgive any glaring mistakes I may have made. Just brainstorming.

I saw an S with a heads-up display but no infrared .. this is the link to the site he purchased it from.. it looked cool on his suzuka S and the setup looked similar to the s2000's cluster.. i think i want one for myself and it has a few peripherals to add on to... hope it helps

I've used the DEFI VSD-Concept in a few rides now... It's best done flush mounted in the dash for a cleaner look at works wonderfully. It also has two shift points with green and red shift lights that reflect off the window and dual shift tones as well if you want them.

The New VSD-X isn't as nice, cause unlike reflecting on the windshield where you want to, it reflects on a single "pane" above it, still with the features of shift lights and tones though.

if you want to see it in on my old ride, you can click her to check it out... I set the shift points really low to show the lights and sounds off...

I'll upload a video to you tube and will host it...
