Default Is Headunit Dead?

Yesterday, I plugged in the cigarette charger to charge my phone; however, it did not work so I pulled it out. Once out, I noticed that a broken plastic part from the charger was still inside the cigarette hole. This may be stupid, but I used a key to get the plastic piece out. I believe I may have short-circuited something when the key hit something inside there. The 12V socket doesn't seem to work anymore.

The point of this thread is that the radio does not work anymore too, it was prior to this incident. When I turn on the PWR knob, nothing is ON. All I see is a blinking red light (Anti-Theft). I figured by messing around with the 12V socket, I may have short-circuited something which may have caused the radio to reset just like if the battery of the car is disconnected. If this happened I would expect to see the word CODE displayed when I turn on the unit; however, the display is blank. I tried entering the five-digit security code for the head-unit but it didn't work.

I've also tried unplugging the cable from the back of the unit as well. Also tried disconnecting the battery too! Is there a fuse somewhere to check?

Is my radio dead? Thanks in advance!

BTW, I've posted on the HondaAccordForum but no response yet.

if a '94 accord is anything like an s2000, this thread will likely
answer your question:

Did you check your fuses? You probably blew a fuse or two.

No I have not. Another member had also advised in doing this. I will be checking later on when I get home from work.

Thanks! Keeping my fingers crossed.

remember there are probably redundant fuses.....you should probably check your "accessory" fuse first.

I agree I would check the fuses. I'd be very surprized if its not a fuse.

If the head unit did explode, I have a '97 Accord stock radio I'd be willing to part with somewhere around here.

Almost definitely the fuse.

Next time you're fishing around in electrical sockets, use something plastic!

Thank you to everyone for their responses! Yes, indeed it was the fuse (radio/cigarette) located under the hood.

I'd only checked on the under-dash fuse box. Completely forgot about the fuse boxes under the hood.

Again, thanks everyone. This forum is the best!

Thank you for your offer of the head-unit. I'm glad I didn't need it.

I'll remember your tip next time!
