Help With AMP power
i have a jl 1000/1 and a 12w7 in my trunk. about half the time the system works fine. the other half, the sub just isn't getting any power, it does, but very little. checked all the grounds and amp light is always on so it is getting power, but for some reason, the sub isn't always gettin the power or signal. i have a 1 farad capacitor too. doesn't seem like a connection problem. only had this particular system in the car for like 3 days. worked fine before, jus started doing this today. when i hit a bump sometimes, the system continues to work fine again for a little bit. i took the sub outta the box n checked the wires. they are fine. doesn't seem to be a wire problem. what else could it be? doubt its the amps cuz 1/2 the time it all works perfect. any help would be appreciated...thanks all.
There has to be a connection problem somewhere if it cuts in and out over bumps. Also, if you have a multimeter, check the input signal strength level. If the amp is not getting th needed signal input, it cant output anything. With the multimeter, check the signal in and the power in. Make sure these numbers are around what the amp needs to function. You will want to check the power pre- and post- capacitor to rule that out.
