Default Help, I need a Sony radio code

A while back I bought a Sony CDX-M650 from another member. I hooked it up today and I can't get the face to flip. I'm guessing that I need some sort of code. Does Sony use generic codes or are they serial number specific? Can anyone help me out with this one. I sure hope the radio is not destined for the trash can.

There is power. The clock is visable. The face will not flip by either using the remote or the open close button on the face. I looked at the m610 instruction manual, which I found online and the 610 requires user to depress a reset button located of the front of the unit and then enter a code tht is supplies with the radio. I just thought that since the two look very much alike I might need a code for my m650.

I have the 750 and no code is needed for it. A while back I was having an issue with the face button functionality getting all screwed up...certain buttons would operate as if they were a different button, and some would just plain refuse to work at all. A few confusing trips to the service center finally resulted in them reflowing the entire faceplate PCB again...cold solder joints, it works flawlessly now.

Will any of the functionality work? Can you get the radio to turn on with the remote, change stations, etc.?

if you cannot find the reset button then you can unplug the harness from the back of the deck and plug it back in. sometimes this will work just like pressing the reset button.

Hondafan: I have the cassette version of the same sony you have. No codes are required. The manual does call for pressing the reset button after hooking it up to the car:

" Before operating the unit for the first time or after replacing the car battery, you must reset the unit.
Press the reset button with a pointed object, such as a ball-point pen."

Good luck!

PS: I can't remember if the button is located inside the front pannel, though. I will confirm that for you shortly.
