HELP! installing amp. Need remote amp power source.
I know this has been asked and answered, but I've found conflicting answers. I want to do this right the first time and be through with it.
I have a MY2001, and I am installing an amp. I need a remote amp power supply, typically a blue wire. This is the wire that carries the signal to turn the amp on when the head unit is turned on.
I would think I could use the Pin #1 Antenna/Remote Amp Relay, Yellow/Green wire. I have heard that this will work, BUT ONLY WHEN THE RADIO IS ON, not the CD. This can't be right! Can anyone confirm this to be true or untrue? Why does this wire lead to a separate harness behind the head unit?
If I can't use the yellow/green wire, I should use the 12V accessory power, correct? This is Pin #2, the White/Red wire?

I beleive the stock Honda radio does not power the antenna lead when playing a CD, and thus can not be used for a remote amp. Most after market car stereos do provide a remote amp lead, and usually share this lead with the power antenna lead. In these cases, the antenna power lead is used to turn on a remote amp.
If you are adding an amp to the stock stereo, you can control it's power two ways. First, is to just connect to the radio switched power and have it turn with the ignition switch. Or second, you can use something like a PAC TR-4 http://www.go2pac.com/flash1024.html I think the first solution will work fine.

I just finished installing my Alpine MRV-T407 today. And came across this same issue. Pin1 yellow/green (power ant.) will NOT WORK.
With the radio on, I measured 10.8 volts.
With the CD on, I measured .8 volts.
Just don't use it. Instead tap into Pin2, white/red, which is 12 volt accessory switched. My AMP turned out to be _very_ quiet so it doesn't matter if it's on and the radio is off.
