I have a new kenwood head unit with the face that flips over.
Problem is the face of the kenwood hits the radio cover door when its closed.
Has anyone had this problem or have an idea for a solution?

Rosso,

My Sony unit does something similar. I think it only needs a few millimeters of space, so I'm going to try and remove the inner plastic piece (that a few slips of paper fit in). If that won't work for you and you want to spend a bit of money and/or time, you might try removing the door and creating a plastic panel to cover up the mechanics lefty behind.

I proudly submit this as my 1,000th post Rosso my friend:

There are two triangular brackets you (or your installer)removed from the stock head to mount the Kenwood. You need to drop the head unit in a little deeper. Remove these two brackets and make the hole a slot instead of a hole(dremel or drill bit). Slide the head unit a little deeper. This will allow the door to clear the head unit.

I just ran into this problem, as well. The Blaupunkt San Francisco sticks out a good .5" farther than the stock head unit. Since I don't have any tools that will cut the steel triangular brace, I settled for sliding the brace forward one position on the rear pair of holes (my unit has four holes: 2 rear holes next to each other and 2 forward holes at a diagonal to each other).

I just tested this out, and it worked fine. The holes are too small for the screws, giving a tight fit that keeps the unit from rotating. With the addition of the car's trim panel, the unit is very securely positioned.

I did have to put a couple of washers under the four mounting screws to give the face plate room to open; the top of the face plate was hitting the trim piece just below the vent openings.

Now, if UPS would get my d*mned PAC unit delivered, I would be done! Argh!
