help for a new S2000 owner please
hi all,
How easy is it to get a compatible cd multichanger for my stock S2000 car stereo.
Also, how can i find out what make it is ( its a dec 2000 reg)
It is a truly awesome car, just not too happy with the stereo.
One final question for you all....if i buy another stereo, will the controls on the dashboard still work?
thanks a lot, great site, a lot of very knowledgable people out there.

Ok, with you in GB I will only be able to field 1/2 of your guestion.
"How easy is it to get a compatible cd multichanger?"
What you have in GB is differant the in the US, so try posting this in the UK forum (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/forumdisplay.ph...p?s=&forumid=25)

Yes and no. Some radio can and other can't. all will require an addition interface.
Alpine has several units that have a dashcontrol interface option. This icon
shows that the headunit has the port needed on the back. Then you purchase the Alpine KCE-865E dash control interface for the S2000. This is only available in europe.
Sony, Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony and Clarion headunits can be interfaced using Lucid's DCI (www.lucidautomotive.com). There is one DCI for sony headunits that support a direct wired connection (see lucid's site for details) Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony and Clarion headunits have another DCI that uses the IR from the remote to control them. This is what I have installed in mine. I love it and I could no live without it. It does so much more then anything else, more functions that OEM controls.

The car is great and yes...the stereo sucks.
Here is what I did and am very happy with it.
Forget the multi disc changer and get a mp3 player. It holds about a dozen albums on one disc. I bought an Alpine 9813. Upgrade the speakers. You can also fit a small amp inside the spare tire. I went with Infinity speakers and a Blaupunkt amp. I also added rear speakers, (Kenwoods from Lucids website which is a sponsor here). The sound is incredible and I now only need the one disc in the HU to have more music than I can listen to. When I installed the Alpine, I also installed Modifry's DCI which allows you to keep the dash controls and even adds some functions. I hope this helps.

For what it's worth, I got an Alpine changer that plays mp3 cd's. I added the M-Bus converter and the Alpine to Honda converter. The end result was a CD changer that played MP3 cd's (about the same storage as my 5gb iPod) that interfaced directly with the stock Honda H/U and the stock Honda DCI. Works really well. The only reason why I didn't bother with an iPod hook-up is there's really no where to put the iPod unless you wire up to the glove box behind your right elbow. The only downside is that you don't see the song name read-out. So for example song 60 on CD 3 shows up as CDC 3-60.
A blurb from Al and Ed's (a local Los Angeles store)
Item: CHAS634
This awsome new changer from Alpine will not only play your standard audio CDs but also your MP3 CDs, giving you the ability to have hundreds of songs in your changer at any given time. It is compatible with Ai-Net decks, and M-Bus decks with the optional KCA-130B adaptor.
