Default Costco stereo for an S2000?

I'm selling my S2000 and it has the factory stereo with the cd player that stopped working some time ago. I want to put an inexpensive stereo in and I read the great stereo post, but it doesnt seem to answer my question.

I'm looking at buying the RCA RCD228 4 x 45 Watts Power Car Stereo, with installation for $149 from Costco. I'm not as concerned with the long term quality of the stereo as I am in having something that works, which is more than I can say for the one in there now.

I'm concerned though, that the stereo may not work with this car, or that ordering a stereo online may be a bad idea. But with everything else I'm doing to get the car in top shape for selling, $149 is a great budget for my stereo.

Any suggestions or experiences?

i say buy a used oem one from one of the members here who've upgraded. otherwise you will lose the dash controls (unless dci is available - about $100) by going with a cheap aftermarket unit.

i agree with trying to find a used oem unit, that way you can keep your dash controls.

they're on ebay all the time for about $50. just make sure they either come with the code or you've accepted the fact that you'll have to go to the stealership and convince them to give you the code.
good luck,
JASON

There are much better buys to be found on Ebay, or, buying a used stock unit for 50 bucks in the WTB forum.

I see you have a 2000 model - you could buy an 01+ and tell the buyer that you added a cd player that actually tells time
