Help - Radar Detector Hardwire
i hardwired my radar detector like i was told to on the DIY Hardwire radar detector link on the forums. its not working anymore. what fuse would that prong be running off of. sorry for being so vague. Im sure someone who hardwired this before would understand, thanks.
We can guess based on the limited information you provided. If you plugged a female spade connector to the accessory tap on the fuse box then there's probably an inline fuse. The tap itself isn't fused IIRC. It would help to know the make and model of your radar detector and how you wired it. There are several different sets of instructions floating around.
On the other hand, if you used an Add-A-Fuse then the fuse is on the Add-A-Fuse.

Next possibility, if you simply cut off the 12 plug from the end and wired the power directly in to the fuse panel or other 12v point, there may have been additional circuitry in the plug itself to adapt the vehicles power output to that of the radar detector. I've seen this happen with external XM radios before and as a result you must use a female connector and plug the original power cord for the radar detector in to that to have it function properly.
That'd be my guess but you can blow it out of the water pretty easily by saying you didn't cut the plug off
