I have a 2001 with a completely stock sound system and since I'm done making more power, I've decided its time to upgrade the sounds. Youl wouldn't believe how hard it is to hear anything over the exhaust, even with the top up, and especially on the highway.

As usual I'm having a hard time making any decisions. Obviously the first thing I'll need is a head unit. I've been looking at Alpines and my first question is should I spend the extra money for the 9855 with the 4v pre-outs(If I end up getting an amp).

I'll also need an amp (I think). Which raises the question should I add rear speakers and a 4 channel amp, or should I just upgrade the door speakers and add a 2 channel amp.

Lastly, I know nobody likes to answer this but, I'd like to have "the best" speakers that will fit in the doors. And if you can't answer that, how about the speakers that can handle the most power that will fit in the doors?

I'll probably want a sub & amp sometime in the future (If they don't weigh too much ), but I'm not going to worry about that right now. I don't want to commit too much money until I hear just how much of an improvement all of this is going to be.
