it's not going to be the ignition... the alternator is much more likely to be the problem, especially if the buzz varies with RPM.

I had a similar problem, although it was two stage. 1st: had a slight alternator whine. Bugged me though. Decided my power wire running down the center console with signal and speaker wires was bad. Rerouted power down the passenger side, hooked everything back up and...

2nd stage: HOWY CWAP! It was buzzing now like a chainsaw. Way worse than before.

After some troubleshooting and tearing of hair, the way-bad whine was caused by a simple (and stupid) case of the RCA connector of the signal wire on the left channel not being pushed in all the way on the amp. Effectively a ground problem!

Once fixed, not only did the incredibly bad buzz go away, but I then learned that my reroute fixed the quieter buzz.

Moral: check the basics before tearing the installation apart (as I failed to mention that I did )

Speaker Buzz CURED!

Every connection double checked, buzz remained. Power cable neg. ground was about 4' long reduced to 2' yet the speakers still buzzed. After 3 hrs of inspecting the entire system, removing the head unit 3x and plugging in other units (to insure it wasn't the DNA from the Pioneer unit) the problem was discovered. The Xtant amplifier has a Floating Input level that wasnt switched properly. Two small switches on amp eliminated the buzz.
Amazing! I guess we shoulda read the Xtant manual first...

Thanks for everyones advice....
