Help with subwoofer
Hello, I have a JL audio 700/5 amp which has a ch with 300 RMS for a sub. Can someone help me choose a good sub for this amp. I was going to go for the JL 8W7 but the more I read on here the less I want to order it. Thanks in advanced and sorry if this question sounds dumb.
I own one of those subs...and 5 of their Mag V4's
Keep an eye on the forums. Nick (owner of SI) posted recently that he's looking to open ordering again, but that it will be really limited in numbers.
Pricing runs $280/ea, I believe...but I could be mistaken (I paid less because I got in on the initial pre-order).

Just a suggestion...
Absolutely fantastic subs here:

I've used many of them...I won't buy anything else!
Projects that I've used them in (TC-1000's / currently the "TC-Epic"):

Some 15" TC2000's (down firing) in the tubes/cylinders in this pic:

The single most important factor to picking a sub is the enclosure design, not the amp.
You can deisgn around the sub, or you can pick a sub to match the enclosure. But realize that some subs are going to be better in a ported box....and you may be restriced in volume.

On a side note, I received an email from Nick( owner of SI) and he stated that he will be coming out with an improved version in the spring time.

Ask Nick about my setup.
I have my BM mounted where the spare tire usually mounts, running somewhere around 400W to it. It's one of the cleanest subs you can buy, as far as SQ goes. And incredibly loud - 130+ dB capable at 450W. It's deceptively loud in that there is so little distortion, it's difficult to tell just how loud the subwoofer is until you remove it from the mix (or try to talk, whichever).
I really like the fact that the SI MKIII only requires 0.5 area. I was wanting to mount it on the sidewall of the trunk so I still have some usable trunk space. With the SI MKIII I would be able to accomplish this. If it cant be done then I would just put what ever sub I purchased in the tool area and just deal with the trunk space issue. Also as a side note I have my spare removed and I am currently building an amp rack for it so I can mount the amp and crossovers.
