Default Help With Sytem Setup

Ok guys, I recently sold my miata and decided to move my sound system to the S2000.

HU - Alpine 9855
Front - Infiniti Kapas Components
Amp - JL Audio 500/5 Amplifier
Subs - 2 10 inch Solo Barics.

From the posts that I've read, Solo Barics subs aren't any good. My question is what subs and rear speakers should i purchase? And is the JL Audio amp good enough or should I also purchase another amp?

Thanks,
John

Rear Speakers = None

Subs = Several threads going around about this right now. Heres a link to a discussion regarding two Elemental Designs products and an Alphasonik

In fear of sounding like a broken record, for subs...a single 10" alphasonik or eclipse will be MORE than enough in a proper box (pm darkknight -john- about this)

As for amps, DiamondDave just got an Alphasonik that is 150x4 @ 4ohms RMS, sounds FANTASTIC, its light, and customer service is awesome...not to mention its probably cheaper than the JL. You will not need rear speakers, I guarantee it....at first anyway.

You had solobarics, you should know whether thay were any good or not. I think there are just people here that like to criticize them because they're one of the major brands now. Not to start a fight here.

major brand or not... poor value, poor sound quality, poor performance, etc. are all things that can take a great name and get it a from me. heck, JL is a big brand, and i recommend them all the time. they aren't always the best bang for the buck, but you can feel assured you're getting a good quality product.

heck, back when Kicker was just as huge 10 years ago, i had a solobaric and adored it. when they changed the design, build quality and sound quality of the speaker, they went down in my opinion. heck, i STILL run a Kicker ZR240 amp. for a long time, i really liked Kicker amps... lately, i just haven't heard them to know what they are currently doing.

in the end tho -- the OP has had Solo's. he should know whether they suit him or not. i know i wouldn't buy a 10" square one as they stand now. everyone i've heard (sealed or ported) has sounded as sloppy as my 1 year old's eating habits.
