Not sure where to put this thread but thought this would be the best place to ask..

I just replaced an blown HID ballast in my Zx6-R -

I turned it on for less a minute to see if worked (it did) but noticed that it instantly produced a lot of heat from the ballast

This is the firs time I've worked with an aftermarket ballast and wasn't sure if this was normal?

 

im pretty sure they running really HOT on start up cuz they put out alot of power to light those HIDs. i have two installed on my CBR600RR but i have never touched them after i installed them so i dont know if they get hot. been almost two years and 9000 miles with no issues

ddmtuning is the place to buy as well

 

thanks for the input. I'm getting mixed information online in terms of radiant heat.
