Default HID replacement

Just wondering what's the life expectantcy of our HID headlights, and if one goes should you replace both?

Also if anyone knows if there are different levels of brightness when it comes to HID or is the same for all cars that come equipped

Our HIDs will last many times longer than standard halogen bulbs, but the downside is decreased light output as they get older. Nothing says you have to replace both at the same time, but you may notice a brightness difference if they are too far apart in years. If they are a year or two apart, I would replace one. If more than that, I would suggest replacing both of them at the same time.

my left one already went out. It flickers slightly when I turn my lights on, but won't ever come on. I'm getting it replaced under warranty. Hopefully it's just a fluke since the HID bulb costs $175 each!

Actually, I think you'll find it was the inverter that was faulty, not the bulb...and the inverter is MUCH mroe expensive than the bulbs. For future reference, you can pick up new bulbs for like $80 online.

well I think honda ordered the bulb. We'll see when it comes in. I would think that it wouldn't be the bulb since it was "trying" to light up, but wasn't successful.

I was informed today that our HIDs are 3 times as bright as standard halogen. Don't know if other car mfg. are brighter, ie: MBZ, BMW, etc...

so basically the HID's will only wear down when they are in use right? therefore, minimizing the use will increase its life expectancy...
