Default Home made adapters and installing Boston FS60 componants

Ok, I had some Boston RX67 coaxials in the doors that sounded really good. But, I didn't like the idea that I wasn't utilizing the stock tweeter locations. So, being the Boston Acoustics lover that I am, I ordered a set of Fs60 componants. I had been using the stock baskets modified to fit the RX57s. The FS60s turned out to be slightly larger and would not fit in the baskets. My teamate Jay said he was handy with MDF board so he broke out the router and a piece of 1/2" board. A few minutes later (and it was only a few), we had an adapter/spacer that fit perfectly. I used some dynamat around the opening and an XTC baffle to keep the water out. It was alot easier than I thought.

I mounted the new tweeters in the stock locations using the stock tweeter brackets, they worked perfectly as well. The crossover was mounted in the little "box that does nothing".

I am running the set and my rear RX57 speakers off of a Sony 5150 amp and a Pioneer DEH- 7440MP, I really can't believe how much of an improvement that these mods made over stock and how easy it was to install all this. I find it so hard to believe that audio shops charge the ammounts they do for such simple tasks like this. The pics are a little bad because of lighting, but they give the idea. Has anyone done anything different or think I have done something wrong? I would appreaciate any comments/suggestion.

what's an xtc baffle?

did you have any problems with the hu fitting right when it was put in? any issues of the face hitting the door when its closed?

thanks

The XTC baffle is just a foam bucket that protects the speaker from getting wet/dirty and supposedly improvesbass response slightly (doubt it). The head unit fit perfectly and I have not had any issues with it hitting the door. I am very happy with this deck and you can get them at pretty good prices now.

Next time you open the door, put some dynomat behind the tweeter - mine sounds much cleaner this way.
