Home Theater
i know that this isnt S2K related, but i was hoping to get some help here. i posted in hometheaterforum.com, but no one is willing to help. ok, here i go:
My parents are about to buy equipment for our home theater. We have a room downstairs that is specifically built to be a theater. Here is a list of the equipment we are about to purchase:
Sharp XV-Z 12000 projector
Da-Lite Cinema counter screen. 54 x 96 pro trim
Yamaha BNH-5790 receiver
Sony SA-CD DVD player
JBL speakers : Front : DBL-E80 (pair)
Center: DBL-EC25
Rear: DBL-E10 (pair)
Woofer: DBL-E150P
I was wondering if this is a good setup. What are some products that are comparable with the ones listed above performance and price wise. What are some good screens that are 112" and 120" in size. i really dont know much about this stuff and i tried researching online, but i just dont understand alot of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Outside of my 9 to 5 job I have my own business designing and installing home theater systems. I actually installed the projector you are looking at this past weekend. It was my first experience with the Sharp. Out of the box I was very impressed. I havent gotten into any calibration, thats coming this weekend, but all in all its a great projector. I went with the same size screen you listed, but one made by Stewart. I wouldnt recommend going any bigger than 96" because Sharp doesnt recommend a throw of over 16'. If you know the dimensions of the room, viewing distance, things like that I can certainly give you some more insight if interested. Good luck with the home theater.
Everything looks fine except for the speakers. If you love music and you love movies, I would highly advise you find a "Paradigm" dealer in your area and experience the natural sound. These speakers will bring your movies and music to life and won't break the bank!
i can also recommend the paradigm. i have purchased the studio 60 and matching surround counter parts and love them. when i moved to my new house i needed smaller setup and went with the system 5

Not to be a nay sayer, but I'd suggest you go to a few stereo stores with a couple of CDs you like and test a number of different speakers. Personally, not a fan of Paradigm. But you may be. Or you may like one of the direct order speakers by Axiom, Onyx or Rocket. Lots of great companies out there and many sound very, very different. I'll also second using the fine folks at avs.com as a resource.
